Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FieldSpot ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service"). This site is currently in beta, and we're working to improve privacy practices as we grow.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal contact information, such as your name, email address, or phone number, when you choose to provide it to us, for example when you contact us or submit feedback.

We plan to offer user accounts. When accounts are available, we may collect the name, email address, or phone number you choose to provide to create and manage your account. We will explain which details are needed when you sign up.

When team invitations are available, we may also receive a parent's name, email address, or phone number from their team, coach, or organizer to invite that parent to join the team on FieldSpot. The person sharing the details must have the parent's permission. We will use those details only to send and manage the invitation unless the parent chooses to join and confirms the information for their account. Receiving an invitation does not create an account or require the parent to join.

With your permission, we use limited information to provide maps and improve the site, including:

  • Location data (if you allow it in your browser or device)
  • Device and browser type
  • Pages visited and usage patterns
  • Pseudonymous browser and session identifiers, when you allow analytics

Analytics identifiers distinguish measured browsers and sessions; they do not tell us your name. We use this information to improve FieldSpot's performance and user experience.

2. Third-Party Tools

We may use trusted third-party services to provide maps, directions, or analytics, such as:

  • Mapbox (for maps and geolocation)
  • PostHog (optional product analytics)
  • Email tools to respond to messages and, when available, send invitations and account messages

These services may collect data according to their own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

  • Understand how people use FieldSpot
  • Improve map accuracy and performance
  • Debug bugs or issues on the site
  • Respond to feedback
  • When accounts are available, create and manage accounts using information users choose to provide
  • When team invitations are available, send and manage invitations using contact details shared with permission

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We may use cookies or similar technologies to store preferences or enable map features. You can block cookies in your browser settings.

Optional PostHog analytics stay off until you choose Allow analytics below. You can return to this Privacy Policy at any time to change your choice. When enabled, we store a random browser identifier in local storage and send page visits, complex and field identifiers, validated link openings, direction requests, navigation app choices, sharing outcomes, and basic device/browser information. We do not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, shared text, recipients, search text, raw query strings, referrer URLs, or GPS coordinates to PostHog, and session recording and automatic click capture are disabled.

Declining or withdrawing permission stops future analytics collection and clears this browser's PostHog identity. It does not delete events already sent. Your preference is stored on this browser for this site; other browsers or site domains may have separate preferences. Events already collected are retained according to the PostHog project's retention settings.

Analytics are off for this browser. You can change this at any time.

No preference saved.

5. Location Permissions

If you allow location access, your browser may send us your approximate GPS coordinates to help center the map. This data is not stored or tracked beyond the current session.

On the Tall Trees tournament preview, you can enter an optional starting location. As you type, your search text is sent to Mapbox for suggestions; choosing a result sends its coordinates and the first game's destination to Mapbox for a driving estimate. FieldSpot keeps this choice only while the page is open. It is cleared on refresh and is not saved in browser storage or included in shared plans, calendars, or analytics.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect data. However, this is a public beta, and no system is 100% secure. Use at your own discretion.

7. Children's Privacy

FieldSpot is designed for use by parents, coaches, and organizers of youth sports. It is not intended for direct use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us at infofindmyfields@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at fieldspot.co/privacy.

9. Contact

You can ask us to correct or delete your contact information, or to stop sending team invitations. For these requests or any privacy-related questions, please email us at:infofindmyfields@gmail.com
